Eagles score at Texans: Live updates, game stats, highlights, analysis for ‘Thursday Night Football’

The Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans are tied 14-14 through two quarters on “Thursday Night Football.”

Looking at their seasons so far, the game is uneven, with the undefeated Eagles the clear favorites over the Texans 1-5-1, but that disparity didn’t translate into the first quarter, which ended with the two teams sitting at 7 points.

The Texans made a statement early, surprising many by scoring the first touchdown of the game. Quarterback Davis Mills guided his team downfield and the 75-yard run was capped off with a 2-yard touchdown reception from Teagan Quitoriano.

The Eagles started deep in their own territory, but were able to go 91 yards for a score, going up the board thanks to a 2-yard TD from Miles Sanders.

The Eagles had only turned the ball over twice this season before this game, but the Texans defense got to quarterback Jalen Hurts with Steven Nelson forcing a fumble and Johnny Johnson recovering. The Texans were unable to capitalize on the turnover.

Philly bounced back offensively, taking its first lead on a 79-yard drive. Kenneth Gainwell hit it in the end zone from 4 yards out.

Just before the two-minute warning, Dameon Pierce took the ball from 36 yards to spark the Houston offense. Pierce was a key offensive player and finished the half with 13 carries and 88 yards. Chris Moore caught a pass in the end zone that was initially ruled an incomplete pass downfield, but was later overturned by a score, stopping the game.

The Texans protect Mills well, which makes a huge difference in their usually struggling offense. The game against the Eagles defense is working for them so far. Houston enters halftime with confidence and in a position that no one suspected.

Philadelphia ended the half with a missed field goal from 54 yards.

Heading into the game, the Eagles had scored more points in the second quarter of games than the Texans had scored all season in all quarters, but that game was a different story.
