Oleksandr Zinchenko leaves Manchester City pre-season camp for medical with Arsenal

Oleksandr Zinchenko has left Manchester City’s pre-season camp and is traveling to Orlando to undergo a medical as he nears a move to Arsenal.

Athleticism reported on Monday that Arsenal are finalizing a move for Zinchenko after reaching an agreement in principle with the 25-year-old on a four-year contract.

Arsenal’s offer is thought to be worth £30m, plus an additional £2m in workable add-ons ($36m in total).

It is understood Zinchenko has now left City’s training camp in Houston, Texas and is due to travel to Orlando, Florida where he will undergo a medical. Arsenal sporting director Edu is also expected to arrive in Orlando today to help finalize the deal.

He is set to become Arsenal’s fifth signing this summer following the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus.

Although he tends to operate in midfield for his country, Zinchenko has mainly been used by Guardiola at left-back. Although this is a specific area of the pitch where Arsenal are looking to strengthen, his versatility is sure to please.

Zinchenko enjoyed huge success at City, winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup four times. He also won an FA Cup and played in the 2021 Champions League final.

He moved to Manchester City from Russian club Ufa in the summer of 2016 and made a total of 128 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League club.
