The MCU has become infamous for its presence at major conventions as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stands before a crowd of ecstatic fans to reveal plans for the future. Due to the pandemic, that unfortunately couldn’t happen for a while, but Feige just made a comeback at San Diego Comic-Con this year to make a splash.
After various conflicting rumors about what the studio had in store, Marvel Studios went all out with the reveal of the full slate of Phases 4 and 5, as well as confirmation of Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars complete phase 6 in 2025 to complete the multiverse saga.
With both avengers upcoming sets in Phase 6, Feige laid out a slate chart that left many release dates open to fill with the promise that those would be discussed another time. Now, the MCU boss has teased more news along the way.
Marvel promises more announcements to come
Speaking to the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced more upcoming MCU announcements after the blockbuster panel at San Diego Comic-Con revealed Phases 5 and 6 in the world.
Feige first referred to the famous energy of Hall H, the auditorium in which most of the major panels at Comic-Con are held, calling it “very difficult to describe:”
“It’s good. You know, the energy in Hall H is something that’s very hard to describe if you’ve never been there.
The MCU boss then promised there was still “so much more to reveal” But he “I didn’t want to talk about everything” at the Comic-Con panel:
“There’s so much more to discuss and so much more to reveal, and we didn’t want to talk about it all today.”
Disney still has the upcoming D23 convention where Marvel Studios will take the stage alongside Lucasfilm and other studios on Saturday, September 10 at 10 a.m. PST. The convention will be held in Anaheim, California and will feature “surprise guests” and “exclusive pictures” during the presentation:
“Filmmakers, celebrities and surprise guests will join representatives from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm, among others, on stage in Concourse D23 at 10 a.m. to showcase theatrical and Disney+ titles. Going behind the scenes of highly anticipated movies, specials and series from these studios, attendees will see exclusive footage and be among the first to find out what’s in the works.
Disney+ Day will also return for 2022 on September 8, a few days before D23, and has been promised to see the House of Mouse “première of new content from its flagship brands.” Last year’s event included the reveal of several new MCU Disney+ series and the streaming premiere of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
What will Marvel Studios unveil at D23?
As Comic-Con approaches, Deadline reported that Marvel Studios may not deliver much news at the event, as it is instead saving its biggest reveals for Disney’s own D23 convention. Obviously, that turned out not to be the case as the participants were treated to the full Phase 5 roster and confirmation of the next two avengers blockbuster movie.
With the slate of the multiverse saga now revealed throughout Phase 5 until the end of 2024, there probably won’t be too many announcements of new projects at D23. Instead, the focus should be on offering new details on previously announced projects that are nearing filming, currently in production, or already wrapped.
Granted, Feige left a whole host of Phase 6 releases blank at Comic-Con with the promise that they’ll be revealed another day, but that day may not come as soon as many hope. After all, if Marvel Studios reveals the entire Multiverse Saga slate this year, it won’t leave anything to reveal in 2023 or 2024.
It’s also important to remember that while Marvel Studios is hosting its own hour-long panel at Comic-Con to fill itself with reveals, it’s sharing the stage with Lucasfilm and other Disney studios at D23. Looking back at years, Feige tends to take the D23 stage for around 20-30 minutes, which is plenty of time to work with, but will likely lead to less news than Comic-Con.
Looking back to 2019, Comic-Con brought the entire Phase 4 slate, while D23 was filled with new details as well as the addition of Ms. Marvel, Moon Knightand She-Hulk to the list. Perhaps something similar will follow here, with likely new reveals to be included. Dead Pool 3, night werewolfand world war hulk.
In terms of casting, this is perhaps D23’s biggest new release. Feige should confirm which characters will be involved in Love at first sight and Captain America: New World Orderwhile The Fantastic Four can finally announce its cast and director.
Overall, fans should be prepared for a few major reveals to come out of D23, but nothing close to Comic-Con level. Recent rumors have suggested that old Fox contracts prevent any X-Men projects from moving to 2025, so while there’s a chance the mutants will debut in Phase 6, they could be saved for the future. next saga.
Marvel Studios will be presenting at the D23 convention on Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m. PST – the panel is not scheduled to air live.
